Whatever You Do...

   Don't Quit!

ALONG THE WAY TO YOUR DESTINATION

journey

Jesus had a destination and so do you!

You spend time mapping your journey.  If you are driving, potential stops and possible precautions are wisely noted.  Suitcases are packed with everything you MAY need.  The date of your departure is set.  It has finally arrived and excitement pounds through your veins.  Even though you may be travelling alone, you have everything you need: clothes, toiletries, snacks and that wonderful invention called GPS.

The journey will be long, but every mile gets you that much closer to your destination.  Sound familiar?  A particular event or long awaited dream you have planned and waited for is about to happen.

Many hours down the road….BUMP, BUMP, BUMP…What’s that NOISE???

A similar situation happened to us on our way to Louisiana to visit Leo’s Dad on Father’s Day.  Perspiration spilled from his face and he sadly concluded,” It doesn’t look good!” - p. 50 of Stay in the Game.

ARE BUMPS IN THE ROAD MEANT TO KEEP US FROM OUR DESTINY OR ARE THEY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MIRACLES?

One day, Jesus was travelling from Judah to Galilee.  John 4:4-6 NLT, “He had to go through Samaria on the way.  Eventually He came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.  Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.”  That day, at that moment, a woman’s life was eternally changed from this encounter.  She drank from this living water, and her story is still told today. We may break from our route for one reason, when God has planned an important encounter for you or someone else.

Our suburban, mentioned on page 50, never recovered that infamous day.  For the remainder of that summer in 2001, I stayed home with 5 kids, while Leo drove to work in the other car.  Believe me; this seemed like a bump that was not getting fixed any time soon!  I wondered many times why this was happening to me. I took this personally. 'Maybe I deserved it', I thought.

Suddenly, without warning, a beautiful blue Suburban appeared at my door.  It was given to us as a gift with - (are you ready for this?)  No strings attached!!

·       My trust in God went to a whole new level

·       God's gifts have no strings.  Mercy is freely given to those who surrender to the lover of our soul

So, be encouraged when you encounter bumps along the way. It may be a divine set-up!  Till next time….ENJOY THE JOURNEY.
